PROJECT MANAGER, BACHFEST MALAYSIA

Bachfest Malaysia invites applications and referrals for the position of Project Manager for the 2023 season.
Reporting to the Committee of Bachfest Malaysia, the Project Manager supervises and oversees administrative operations of all the projects organized by Bachfest Malaysia, including but not limited to budget preparation, tour booking, financial management, concert and event production, ticketing, and marketing.
The Project Manager must be able to establish and maintain effective working relationships with the Artistic Director, the Committee Members, Interns, and members of the Malaysia Bach Festival Singers and Orchestra, the media, guest artists, as well as other arts organizations, sponsors, funders, educational institutions, volunteers, audiences and other stakeholders.
This is a seasonal position with hours and days of work that may vary widely depending on the time needed to fulfil the responsibilities. This will include nights and weekends coinciding with the planned events.
Majority of the duties could be fulfilled remotely at the flexibility of the candidate, while attendance is required at all meetings, rehearsals, performances, or any other events related to Bachfest Malaysia.

- Malaysia residence
- Bachelor’s degree (candidates completing final semester will be considered)
- Fluent and able to write well in either English or Chinese
- Outstanding communications and organizational skills with the ability to balance institutional and individual considerations while committing to artistic excellence.
- Able to collaborate with various personalities in a calm and compassionate manner with a positive attitude, including under pressure.
- A high commitment to excellence, teamwork, and mutual respect.
- Computer skills including Microsoft Office, Google Suite, and Zoom, among others, and have knowledge/experience in working with ticketing platform such as Cloudjoi.
- Must be able to drive or have transportation means to attend all required meetings or fulfil required errands.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in music, arts management, and/or extensive knowledge of classical music repertoire (especially those by J.S. Bach), voices, choir, instrumentation, and ability to read music.
- Fluent in English, Chinese, and Malay, and able to write professionally for press release, grant application, and other official documents.
- Having spent time working in music or performing arts-related organizations, whether as a musician or member of the administrative team.
- Experience with creating and managing budgets, financial projections, and cash flow reports.
- Experience with stage management or stage protocol in a choral and/or orchestral environment.
- Experience with directing and/or working as an usher for concert events.
- Having the ability to lead, inspire, and motivate staff and volunteers in an environment that fosters creativity.
